PATHWAY

STORY

In 2021, a small group of people began gathering in Pasadena with a singular idea at the heart of their community: What would it look like to be a church gathered for Him and nothing else? Steadfast Church was born out of a dream—a dream of a people distinguished solely by the presence of God.

We were inspired by the vision found in Acts 13:1-2 where a beautiful pattern is revealed: Ministry to God -> God Speaks -> People sent on mission. This has always been our heartbeat: to see this reality unfold in our time and city.

VISION/MISSION

VISION

“Where are we going?”

WE EXIST TO: HOST HIS PRESENCE AND TO SEE THE NAME OF JESUS INCREASE IN EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE, EVERYDAY.

We are emphatically focused on JESUS. His way, his truth, his life. It’s about him and his. He is our portion and prize. Where two or three are gathered in his name that is where he will dwell. He wants his name on the lips of every person in Los Angeles and the world. And we want His presence in our midst. We have decided to know nothing except Jesus Christ and him crucified!

MISSION

“How will we get there?”

Our vision is what it will look like for us as a community when we are accomplishing our mission.

We fulfill our mission by living out our vision.

Establish a priesthood of steadfast empowered disciples

Priesthood – 1 Peter 2:4-10

The Bible describes God’s people as priests—a people who *behold and *imitate* God, living lives that reflect heaven on earth. This isn’t about religious titles or rituals; it’s about stepping into our original human vocation. Priests are worshippers, cultivators, and representatives of God on earth. That’s who we’re called to be.

Steadfast – Acts 2:42-47

A priesthood of steadfast disciples is devoted, anchored, and immovable. It’s not just about surviving in today’s culture—it’s about standing out. We need a church that’s compelling, not complacent. Steadfast disciples are those who live lives of wholehearted devotion to Jesus and His Church.

Empowered – Acts 1:8

Here’s the good news: this isn’t about trying harder or doing more. A priesthood of empowered disciples lives by the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus didn’t send us on a mission and leave us on our own. He gave us His Spirit so we can continue His message and ministry in the world.

Disciples – Matthew 28:19-20

And this is the heartbeat of it all—discipleship. Not just for the spiritual elite, but for everyone. Jesus didn’t call us to make church attenders; He called us to make disciples. A disciple is someone who’s becoming more like Jesus in every aspect of their life. That’s the mission for every believer."

PILLARS

(What does that look like?)

  • We “build altars” in our private and public lives through prayer and worship ministering to the presence of God in everything we do, living lives empowered by the Holy Spirit.

  • We “open the book” by submitting to the authority of the scriptures allowing the word of God to form us even when culture looks elsewhere.

  • We “equip the saints” for the work of ministry being formed to live, love, act, and think like Jesus through informal connections and intentional pathways.

  • We “set the table” metaphorically and physically in our homes, lives and gatherings forging close relationships in a world of individualism.

  • We “reach the lost” by partnering with God in mission as he establishes his kingdom, bridging the gap between heaven and the place we find ourselves.

5 RHYTHMS

What does it look like to be a part of Steadfast Church? We ask 5 things:

Follow

Follow Jesus with us! This is baseline for followers of Jesus! Learn to live as he lived, and match our pace to his, becoming like him if he were us. This looks like orienting our lives around the four directions: UP IN OUT WITH.

Gather

We gather as a church around the bread and cup; to pray, learn the Scriptures, and worship together as the people of God. We have a high value for House Church but that doesn’t cause us to scrap Sunday gatherings. We believe in the both/and of church in rows and church in circles, church around a stage and around a table.

Be in a House Church

Throughout the week, we want to live in community where we eat, pray, read the scriptures, worship, share life, and follow Jesus together as family.

Serve

We serve by demonstrating self-sacrificial love to those both in and outside the church. It takes time and energy, and quite a few to pull off the gatherings each weekend. We are a family, and like a family, we must all pitch in. At present we need people to help serve with coffee, tech/production, and set up!

Give

We want to be a church marked by generosity. If you intend to call Steadfast your home; the invitation is to give. Whether you’re just starting, or you’ve been following Jesus for years and you’ve been giving and tithing your whole life. The invitation is for us to grow into generosity by giving and partnering with us as we see God's kingdom come to earth.

COUNTER CULTURAL SHIFTS

1) From Ideal to REAL

2) From Desire to DEVOTION

ORTHODOXY AND ORTHOPRAXY

“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)

Jesus’ ultimate invitation is to life.

  • Life was why he came. “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (John 10:10)

  • Life is what he spoke, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God.” (John 6:68-69)

  • Life is what he promised, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

The pathway to that life is “the way” and “the truth.”

THE WAY

Jesus’ teaching style is invitational. He makes the pathway very clear and invites anyone to walk it.

THE TRUTH

Practice alone, however, does not result in the life of Jesus. Additionally, Jesus claimed to be the truth: a revelation of God’s character and His way of relating to His creation—the image of the invisible God (Col. 1:15).

THE EQUATION

The Way of Jesus + the Truth of Jesus = the Life of Jesus.
